CHAT: Before the arrival of the Spanish in Mexico, men wore hip cloths, loincloths, short shirts, short skirts, and capes. Afterwards, those who did not directly adopt European styles dressed themselves in simple white trousers and shirts. Today, for the most part, with the exception of ceremonial and fiesta dress, men tend to dress in contemporary global styles. One exception is the outfit shown here from Xochistlahuaca, Guerrero, which is still in regular use by many of the older men in the town.
