Title
Huipil de Tahdziu, Yucatan

Prepared by: Pascual Valle Ku
Ethnic Group: Mestiza
Huipil, 2019
Italian linen huipil with cross stitched flowers around neck and at hem.
In Mexico, embroidery is traditionally a women's job, but today some men across the country
are also embroidering. Ofelia Colli Cen, an expert cross stitch embroiderer from Tahdziu,
Yucatan, convinced her husband Pascual Valle Ku that the income he was contributing to
their family's income would grow if he learned to embroider in addition to selling the
additional crops for his cornfield. This huipil was made by Pascual.
